Bill Eversis a former bench coach for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays... (wikipedia)
He's had a good offensive season. Defensively, he's struggled. But offensively, he's done a nice job.
He understands that some bad things happen and that you have to battle your way through it. Most guys would have just shut it down. But he worked hard to get back and get himself well.
He has laid himself on the line, and that's good. As an outsider, he doesn't know what's supposed to be politically impossible.
He just brings what you need on a club. The energy, the passion for the game and just the love to be out there. He's smart enough to know that you have to bring that with you to the ballpark every day because it may be your last day.
We hit a lot of home runs this season, but the frustration is the inconsistency of everything else that's gone on. There's no small-ball here. It's a power-hitting club that hasn't put together a whole lot of hits.
It was an exciting one. We're happy to come away with a win, and it's nice to do it before all these people.

It was good to get contributions from everybody.
He threw the ball well. He was able to use all his pitches, his slider, his changeup and his fastball.
He threw a lot of pitches but made some pitches when he needed to. It was very fortunate that he made some big pitches when he had to. He battled and did a good job in that respect.
