We are facing the real prospect in two months from now of another catastrophe which can be averted with the right kind of donor assistance.
It's pretty obvious that the response that will be needed will be prolonged food aid relief over next few months.
I believe now there's no justification for spending $300 million a year in keeping foreign troops in Burundi. I would like to find a way to get that 300 million dollars into the economy and the social infrastructure.
The key for peace in Burundi is continuation of dialogue. One person leaves, but the UN remains in the country.
