Coach (Howland) talked about fighting through adversity. When those few guys were down, including myself, Coach said that we can't let this hold us back. And I think Coach has built a mentality of toughness. Several guys stepped up. I think it made us better as a team, and now it's paying off.

Maybe at the professional level, it's the salary thing or money or whatever. They make more than the coaches, so maybe they feel they're higher than the coach. But right now, I've been taught to respect my coach and do whatever he tells me.

It's really getting back to the values of Coach Wooden, of making every possession matter regardless of the situation. That begins with defense.
