We still don't know why. We assume it has something to do with heat fluctuations.
The bluegill population is very good. We haven't collected any 'trophy' bluegill, but there are many in the 61/2- to 8-inch range. The best time to fish for them is in May during the spawn.
That means we had 14 bass over 18 inches every hour.
In the spring of 2005 during a night shocking survey, we collected 119 bass per hour averaging over 2.5 pounds each. That is a very good number, and the body condition of each was excellent.
