The panel is a 16-person group that includes law enforcement offices, Child Protective Services, affected family members and former users, to name a few. They will be there to answer community questions.
Pima Town Council identified substance abuse as a problem in its community and declared a war on drugs. We held meet-your-neighbor nights, educational nights, and we got the community informed and communicating about the issue.
When the coalition started, we saw a problem in our community and nationwide. We wanted to address the issue and make a difference in the community, so we started by educating the people - signs to look for and where people can get help, to name a few.
We have tried to touch every agency involved to get a good representation. We hope to bring back valuable information to share with the community.
If we as a community don't step up to help each other, then who will?
