We want the culvert covers removed. We asked for a specific design, but the city decided to use their standard design, and now our high ground is flooding.
Four years ago, we had paving crews working all over Forest Cove. We were promised that the striping would be done when the paving work was completed, but when the paving was completed we were told they could no longer stripe the streets.
We've been told that it will take a state law to have the culvert covers removed. Some of our citizens are taking it into their own hands, and the covers are gradually coming off.
We never approved it and we never asked for it. However, if the curb was redesigned, the association would not oppose the sidewalk.
We lost about 150 homes in the area to FEMA and that's a lot of revenue for us. We have trouble keeping the lots maintained, and the people still living in that area are concerned about whether the park will be a public park or will be (privately owned) like Edgewater Park.
Cost does not come into play where safety is involved. I feel that this is a safety issue, not a cost issue.
