Pianos Quotations

Well, I was very lucky. I was brought up west southwest coast of Scotland and my mother and father had a music shop, and so I was surrounded by pianos and drums and guitars, and music, of course.

Your pianos travel with you. So does your manager. You have no time for girls. Your manager sees to it that no young predatory females get very far.

It was relatively simple. Bob put himself in my hands. He just turned up - just his words on paper - no instruments, no musicians, no preconceptions. He just turned up on the doorstep and I built the studio. It's what I call a kitchen studio, so we played in the kitchen. I knew it would suit Bob because I knew Bob didn't have a lot of time for the studio. He didn't want people standing around scratching their heads, banging pianos or whatever. I sat down next to him, put a guitar in his hand and off we went.

I worship pianos like they are prize diamonds, and I never willfully do damage to them. But I grew up playing guitars, and you treat a guitar like a best friend or a little brother or a lover you have a tempestuous relationship with.

The music was born on the pianos of the front parlor of the brothels.

We're still hauling pianos around and relocating mailboxes.

We looked for dynamics, touch and the feel of pianos and the quality of louder notes. It was out of five pianos, then we brought it down to two and we choose the one that could handle the lower notes as well as the higher notes.
