We collected about $800 from the football games, and we also had a volleyball game with students playing against the teachers. That raised about $500.
The day after (Hurricane Katrina) hit, we were talking about doing something.
They brought in backpacks and paper and just all different sorts of school supplies. And some would give a pack of pencils. They gave what they could and it was from the heart.
I think it's been a big success. They took the idea and really ran with it. I think that it meant a lot for our kids to be helping.
