Someone sitting up at midnight can't call me - but they can certainly go to their Web page and enter a request for some materials or information, and that's very helpful.
The perception coming in is that you're going to be opening yourself up to personal attacks and ridicule from other councilors.
We should be able to agree to disagree, but at the same time, the personal attacks that we see only serve to discourage people who are thinking about putting their name out there from running. We have to be mindful of that.
There's a lot of different ways to reach people. Some people will go to the Web site. Other people you can reach with direct mail. And there are other people who have the radio on all the time. It's important to reach people in every way that you can.
I think both would help encourage more people to run. The easier we make it for people to get involved, the more people will get involved.
