The real thing we wanted to do is get faster. That's the place I felt like we really needed to improve and we got some fast guys that are going to help us out.
What I love about spring practice is that you get to teach football. There's not the pressure of a game or the scoreboard. There is always the competition, but you can teach the game. It's a chance to help the players get better.
Guys are starting to separate themselves on the depth chart. I've liked the intensity. Guys are really starting to understand what they need to do, how to compete.
This will give us a good chance to see where we're at on offense and defense and special teams.
Right now we're in the process of building a team. You can put a lot of guys out there, but to form a team it takes a lot of different bonds. That's what we're working on.
Right now we're about halfway through our spring practices so this is kind of like a midterm exam.
We really want to get some of the fans out to spring practice this year. That's one of the reasons we're starting on a Saturday.
We're going to try to run things as close to a game as we can. There are still some situations we need to work on and we'll have to create those, but I think we can do it and still make a fun deal to watch.
It was nice to get a look at the players in pads. We still have a lot of work to do, but everybody is learning and the attitude is still great.
We got a great start today. Putting a team together is kind of like a puzzle, so now we're starting to put that puzzle together.
