We are all working in a very uncertain environment. The longer the instability continues, the more people will need assistance and yet that same assistance will be even more difficult to provide. The first people to suffer will be those who need help most.

Our operation in eastern Chad is on a knife-edge even at the best of times.
We sincerely hope that the current political and security situation in Chad will be resolved as quickly as possible, so as not to endanger the lives of the thousands of people who depend on international assistance.
The longer the insecurity in the area persists, the more serious the situation will become. Most people affected by the recent violence have enough food for another month or two, but after that, things are far less certain.
