Maybe it's just symbolic, but to me this is the day for labor and this is the day I'm proud to be a striking member.
We thought we would probably get the benefits because the cuts (Northwest sought) were so extreme, ... The guys are going to have to get other jobs. That will be our message to them.
I think it is just a shame that Northwest has taken advantage of this state so badly and eliminated 90 percent of our jobs, and yet the state cannot acknowledge this and help its own citizens.
Looking back, the strike did not have the effect we wanted it to. It's evident, because Northwest is still flying.
We didn't know their resolve after four months into the strike, so it's really good that we got a message from them now that they want to continue to strike, and that's what we'll do.
We are going to be tested like no other group has ever been tested before on this property, ... dig in and be prepared for a fight.
There's nothing mean about it. It's just facts. The members of the board need to be held accountable for what has happened. The people in charge have wrecked this company.
The system that Northwest has in place can't last forever. They're falling down. No matter what they report they are falling down on the repair of the aircraft and, at some point, it's going to have to come to an end and we're going to have to go back into work.
Northwest is still obligated to negotiate with us. We can file motions at bankruptcy hearings. We're still in the mix; that's what this says.
Any kind of standard of living that's been established is because of unions. This is a force that cannot go away.
That's going to be hard for them. It's not even business as usual now, and we haven't walked off the property yet.
They took cuts on top of raises, which wasn't reported. We know that from people that came from our ranks that went into management that showed us their paychecks.
It's been rejected. The members want to continue to strike, so we will continue to strike.
Everyone got bottlenecked up on the frontage road across from the scab entrance, ... It wasn't something we had planned.
They want some clarity. We just don't have answers for them.
