During that third-quarter stretch, they got just enough of a cushion to spread us out. We had to chase them, and that wasn't a good situation for us.
It was a great ballgame from an excitement standpoint.
To win those games, especially the way we did it, was real exciting.
We have to be efficient on offense. We can't afford many turnovers, because Buckeye Valley has a lot of good athletes and great balance.
Every possession was so critical. They did a nice job of handling the ball and we didn't play with enough patience. Obviously, 13 turnovers is too many for a game of that tempo.
We showed a great deal of heart to come back and win against a quality team like Buckeye Valley. We scored in transition and we dug in defensively and made some big stops when we needed to.
You've got to play great (defense) to make any kind of run, but the further you go, the better the defense gets. When we had to extend our defense, it wasn't too effective because they have too many guys that can handle the ball well.
Our seniors did a great job of stepping up for us. They worked through a lot of adversity and always stayed positive and led by example.
We've got a pretty good returning nucleus of guys. Our young guys played a big role in helping us make a nice run in the tournament, and I'm sure some other people will step up and help us out next year.
We like to think of ourselves as a pretty good defensive team. But there was a premium put on a every possession in a game like this and we had too many ineffective possessions when each one means so much.
