My concerns have been and continue to be more from a standpoint of addressing those broader issues around infrastructure - roads, schools, fire and emergency. We've made some inroads in those areas, but we have a lot more work to do to get to where I'll feel comfortable saying we've made some progress.

Cost does not seem to be a consideration for a lot of these folks. They are paying just ungodly prices for stuff. And that's challenging those of us who have lived here for a long time or were born and raised here - as to whether we're going to continue to be able to afford to live here.

I certainly wouldn't want to be one quoted as saying that it was true.

We have been expected by a significant segment of our population to do our due diligence - and not simply sit around and wait. You can't wait. You've got to do the proper planning up front.

My focus, regardless of where they come from, is on making some more inroads addressing the infrastructure issues that we're facing right now.

I don't know what the answer to that is - but I'm not just sitting like an ostrich with my head in the sand and saying, oh, well, that's just the way it is, and there's nothing we can do about it. I'm raising the question - and trying to engage people in trying to at least talk about to try to figure out if there's something that we can do.

We have released what we were required under Freedom of Information to release - which is that we have had a study done. We have what we think is a sound difference of opinion on what we have to release - and until we get to a point that we feel like it's in everybody's best interests for us to go public, then we obviously won't go public.

We're just so dependent on the automobile for everything we do we can't go the to store if we don't get in the car and drive and it certainly makes sense to me that we start incorporating some other modes of transportation.

Our challenge is having some kind of notion about what kinds of industry that we want. We could have pretty much already filled our industrial park - but we're not just about bringing anybody and everybody into our industrial park. That's not going to, in our judgment, serve the needs of Augusta County and the needs of the region.
