I was expecting guys to play a better game than what they did. Because of injuries in the secondary, we have been shuffling bodies around and it's hard to get continuity. We are just looking for the best pieces to fit.
We've been juggling our lineup from week to week. This stretch does look favorable. But we have to play at the top of our game.
Aaron's a special player. This is a tremendous blow to our team. But now we have to rally around Wood. We picked him up because we felt he had similar qualities to Aaron.
We've made a number of personnel changes on the defense. We thought we'd be further along in the secondary. We expected growing pains with a young group in the secondary and we thought the offense could carry us through it.
We had a strong first half, and then we come out in the second half like the game was won. It was a hard lesson, but we came out with the win.
That was certainly an odd game. We couldn't really establish a rhythm on offense but I was pleased with our defense, which really carried us.
Facing a team with this type of record, there is a tendency to underestimate that type of opponent. But they're a solid team that has had a couple bad breaks at inopportune times and can beat anyone.
I'd be lying if I said otherwise. This one's going to be special.
My whole goal is the Arena Bowl, and to do that, we must make the playoffs. Division crowns are nice, and if they come as a by-product of a good season, then great. But it's about making the playoffs.
Every week as a coach, you give your philosophy, and you don't quite know if the guys are listening. This week, everyone is very focused.
