Last year, we didn't know for a long time if we would manage to get the new car ready in time.

I ended up running a bit wide in a corner when a gust of wind pushed the car from behind, when I had no more room to brake.

That was a very tough race. The timing of the safety car period worked to our advantage early on and we were in good shape. We were quick in the conditions, everything was going well and the strategy was well defined. Then we just decided to go onto dry tyres too early. It was a very close decision, but we took it together and we got it wrong.

What an awesome team, ... Our team's running so great. I am deep in the Funny Car battle, and I'm just a spectator over there. It's just fun to watch. It's so much fun to be a part of it.

As usual, it is difficult to know after today's practice what the true situation is and we will find that out after studying the data in terms of qualifying and the race. On the plus side we made progress from the morning to the afternoon. As usual here, the bumpy and slippery nature of the track makes the car quite uncomfortable to drive and it can feel unbalanced and twitchy. But I get the feeling we might be in slightly better shape than we have been recently.

Its a big day tomorrow, ... Doug runs Bernstein. Thats exciting to watch. (Fans are asking me what its like to be in a points battle) and I say, you know what? Its exciting. Its exciting to be in it. Just because I drive a race car doesnt mean Im not a race fan. As soon as Im done, Im watching them. Its not just that were in a points battle, but Bernstein and Kalitta? Thats a stout race. Bernstein just hauled butt down the track and Kalitta just smoked the tires. You can be sure its going to have their stomachs turning.

The car never came and never really performed to what it was doing at the beginning. But overtaking is almost impossible unless you make a mistake.
