Obviously I've played a lot in this league and started a lot of games. But when I came here they made it clear what the situation would be. I understood that Rich would be the starter and I will be the guy that's there if something happens to Rich. That will be my approach.
He's got my utmost support. He's done a lot for me. He's gone to bat for me a lot of times. He's a guy that I respect and he's a guy that I enjoy playing for. I hope everything he wants to happen happens and I hope he's here and he's given another shot, because he can do it.
What bugged me is that they decided that someone would be better at the position than me. I didn't feel that way at the time. ... I made my feelings known then. Shoot, I went through a lot with that organization. I felt like I was still the best guy for the job.
He's the real deal, man. I mean, shoot, the guy played outstanding for a rookie last year against some of the best rushers in the NFL and certainly held his own, played well.
The guy has worked his butt off to get back to where he was, and he was just now getting back to being 100 percent. It's just disappointing because he's a heck of a player, and you hate to see good guys like that and good players get injured.
