Weather conditions over the past couple of weeks have generally been favorable, but the crop still has not been able to reach a stable level of improved condition. Growth for the younger fields has been good. Some older fields have not developed as well as producers would have expected. This may cause some fields to be abandoned.

Heavy supplies were expected to be available as the upcoming Labor Day weekend was expected to increase demands. Sunny, warm conditions combined with heavy irrigation continued to allow good crop and ear development.
