It would say to those 11 million undocumented immigrants that you have to come forward and register, pay thousands of dollars of fines so that you can be deported to your home country with no guarantee of ever coming back again. We don't think that's feasible.
We know that the construction sector is dependent on immigrant workers in some cases. These bills would be very important both to employers who want a legal, stable work force and to the immigrants who are working in construction already.
It?s easier to blame immigrants than to stand up against the entire system.
