South Sudan is one of the most hard-put places in the world.

No meaningful development can take place without a good road network in southern Sudan. The policy of the government is to construct modern roads that will connect various parts of southern Sudan internally, and link them as well to the outside world.
It is a winner. Sudan is not losing.
The Southern Sudan government budget depends on its share of oil revenue. With limited resources, the southern regional government cannot pay for a new judicial system or police department, nor can it implement plans to improve social services and build infrastructure.
I wanted to continue doing my work, but I had to figure out how. And so what I have basically come up with is that I still go to Afghanistan and Iraq and South Sudan and many of these places that are rife with war, but I don't go directly to the front line.
