I don't think we made any mistakes. But from a public relations perspective, it wasn't properly handled.
We had a generator with us for lights. Even so, half the guys slept outside because it was cooler. The temperatures were over 100 degrees, even at night.
Communication was tough, but we always sensed there was a feeling of appreciation. There was always a crowd of kids wherever we were. They were the best act in town.
I hear different things from different schools. It is kind of a mixture, but it is all anecdotal stuff they are supposed to have some experience with it, so it is not a complete surprise.
