I used to a play a role-playing game called Dungeons and Dragons, and that was about levels of experience; as you gained experience, you were able to deal with much greater and far more kind of global creatures.

On 'Supernatural,' you go to a location and another location, and every week they do amazing things up there. You have to kind of hit the ground running and really start to look to the core of the story you're trying to tell.

The big challenge for me is that my nature is more towards comedy, so I understand when a comedy thing is working; I know when I'm not bored in a comedy.

And Supernatural, in fact, going there wasit felt like a place where I had to actually, um, learn to be kind of manly. I felt like I had to kind of change my, like, way of speaking for a little bit, just to kind of fit in, oddly enough. Which was weird.

There's a lot of levels of metanarrative that I like to play with. That's why I like the Ghostfacers, because we actually managed to come back off the strike with an episode that claimed that the CW wasn't able to get an episode of Supernatural done fast enough. So the prelude to 'Ghostfacers!' is the Ghostfacers going, 'Yeah, those fat-cat writers, we've got a show that's better than that bullshit anyway.' I mean, that's pretty cool in the world of metanarrative, which is, I have to admit, one of my abiding passions.
