One of the lessons of the Vietnam war is that when politicians dabble in military affairs they tie the hands of our soldiers and prevent them from succeeding.

It doesn't matter as far as the foreign policy goes. But, it matters for the message for the troops, this is all about them. Whether we believe in the job they're doing over there or whether we don't believe the job they're doing over there, and at this point I'm very disappointed that the City of La Crosse is going toward that they don't believe in the job the troops are doing.

I want our troops to understand how much we love, respect them and let them know that we trust them - we trust the professionals in our military to win this war for us and we are not going to sit back and be arm chair quarterbacks telling them how to do their job.
