We're hoping he could be a 50-foot shot putter. We're really counting on him to be a consistent point scorer for us in that event.
We've got a lot of youth, but we've got some good youth.
She's starting to finally get healthy for us here ... and I'm extremely pleased with her performances.
She really showed me a lot of guts and got after it despite the weather.
I think their experience showed a little bit. They're a senior-dominated team. They were in the state championship last year and they know what it takes to get it done.
I thought, all in all, our boys competed pretty hard.
I thought we played as well as we've played all year in the first half. Then, we played as bad as we have all year in the second.
I think we lost a little bit of our intensity in the second half. When we lose our intensity and focus like that it is really disappointing because we are a team that prides ourselves on playing hard all four quarters.
I think it was a very good time and it was a nice job by our kids. They're all underclassmen. There's three sophomores and a junior there, and that's what's exciting about it. They're starting to figure some things out.
I think it was great for her confidence more than anything. She's been looking good in practice and looking better each day in the hurdles.
I was very pleased with her effort and the way she's competing now. She's got that confidence.
It forces kids to immediately be competitive and forces them to know that we can't just be satisfied with a sixth-place finish. We need to try to get that fourth-place finish or that third-place finish.
I think she feels comfortable in that role of being one of our go-to girls in terms of scoring points. She had some success last year. She got down to state, and that gave her a taste of what's to come. I think she's got maybe some higher expectations of herself this year.
It allowed us to kind of regroup and slow their momentum down. It wasn't like we were going to stall for the next 11 minutes. It was just a matter of us regrouping and it was like a really long timeout.
I thought he had a tremendous day and that's what we've been building toward. He's been working really hard and it's starting to pay off for him.
That was the thing we were looking to do was give him the opportunity to get a nice time. I think the biggest thing is he knows he can still go faster ... and the nice thing about it is he ran it with fresh legs.
We had a lot of good individual performances on the boys side, but those don't always show up in the team standings at a meet like this. I was very pleased with our kids.
We definitely would have liked to have had him out there, but what we've got there is pretty solid.
Both those girls are helping each other to improve because they're so competitive.
We had a hard time scoring besides Wes tonight. We didn't get much out of everybody else. They just swallow you up. They just really put the clamps on everybody else.
Tonight was night for us to play with a little emotion, and I thought our kids did a great job doing that. On the defensive end, especially, we came out with some emotion.
Our defense let down. We just did not have that same intensity or same energy that we had. For about 2 1/2 minutes there they made a run and we did not answer at the offensive end.
That's a big, clutch shot. We needed that at that time.
The biggest thing is we have to continue to get better. We still have a long way to go to get to where we need to be, and we need to continue to develop our skills.
Taylor did a great job in the throws getting two medals for us.
Shelly didn't even want to run this event at the beginning of the year, and to go from that to running a 16.5 this time of the year is just tremendous.
That's an event that I think we can consistently get three people to medal.
He's still learning, but once he gets things figured out he could be one of the best distance runners we've had.
Her and Molly, they are as good of an 800 tandem as we've had.
