Denis Vincent Napthineis a former Australian politician who was the 47th Premier of Victoria. I want to make it clear as Premier and as local member that I strongly support the Renewable Energy Target. Our message to the Federal Government and to Canberra is stick to the Renewable Energy Target.
While we as members of the Coalition strongly support free speech, it is not unlimited free speech. People aren't free to vilify others on the basis of race or religion.
We've offered direct financial support for a range of renewable energy sources, whether it be large-scale solar, whether it be geothermal, whether it be wave power or wind power.
We're building the infrastructure we need, whether it be the Melbourne Rail Link, the airport rail link which Melburnians have so wanted for over 40 years, upgrading the Pakenham-Cranbourne railway line, or building the East-West Link.
There should be - we should have a society that, whether you're catching the train to anywhere, Frankston or Cranbourne or Craigieburn late at night, you should be able to do it with safety, and, increasingly, you are.
Ted Baillieu certainly has served the state very well. He has served the Liberal party extraordinarily well, and he can be very, very proud of his achievements. I am honoured and proud to say that he is not just a colleague, he is a great friend.
