Many of my best races are just a blur to me. I row the race from move to move and keep my head in the boat. You follow the race plan A to Z, and you just do not quit. We did just that, we rang that bell-note the whole way down the course and sent the dogs home crying.
Over the past few years, I haven't seen the kind of drive I'm seeing this year to train hard, to work as a team, to willingly do the supplementary training. This could be the formula for an incredibly successful season.
Our race on Saturday was the most focused and well-executed race this year. Every race we've been getting better and better.
We've got a lot of driven guys who have experience at the domestic and the international level.
What happened in Mission Bay with Stanford, as far as I am concerned, will stay in Mission Bay. Yeah, losing to Stanford sucked, I am not going to lie about that, but that is in the past and thankfully we have this weekend to let them know that Cal is back in business.
It's going to be a challenge to win it. There are going to be good teams from back east that are anxious to be on the water.
It's really a toss-up this time of year.
