There are a lot of people who get criticized, and if I'm going to get a little sensitive about it, that's a little immature on my part because everybody gets it. It's part of the game. You miss your pitches some times -- that is part of the game, ... I've missed a lot of pitches this year.

They're not making mistakes, and they're living on the corners. You don't make a living hitting borderline pitches that are off the plate.

In years past, we had a balance of guys who swing the bat and take walks. This team was a little more free-swinging and you're going to go through phases like that where everybody is not hitting at one time. That's reality.

If I can run the bases, I can play defense. That was my thinking. I prefer to play defense. I don't think I'm risking injury.

All nine of us are important. That's the way we work. It's not just us three, it's all of us. All of us have to hit for us to be successful.

The first step is critical because you can't think about it. It is important because that means I'm not ready if I was thinking about it. You have to be ready.
