We did make our free throws. We went at them and made them foul us. We got the ball inside, we didn't shoot as well as we usually do, but we got some second shots.
We made a few changes after a tough loss (to Westminster) on Thursday. The kids responded.
McCormick gave them a big spark. He hit some tough shots. A few shots with our hands in his face.
I have a lot of confidence in Dallas.
He is a kid that needs to know that you think he is good.
(Hays) is an All-American and he played like it today. He's a senior and comes from a coaching family ... we trust him and he trusts us.
(The Rams) made the plays. They made it to the free throw line.
He was taking charging fouls, he was diving on the floor for loose balls and taking the ball to the basket and hitting open threes. He looked as relaxed and comfortable out there as he could possibly be.
He'd bowl his way in there, make a spin, a shot and draw the foul. He controlled the game ... in the second half.
He knows that if we need him to take shots, he will take them. I think some people go to sleep on him and if they do, he will burn them.
Jeff had a sensational game. He just tore them up.
Jeff could have thrown up something. He kept his poise and made the extra pass. That is what this team has done all year.
I said that if we could keep one of those two to under 20 points, we had a shot.
Our big kids played solid. I don't know if anybody's held them (Argos) to 71 points.
That would've given us a great opportunity. There's nothing you can do about it ... (the refs) can't catch everything.
That was a great basketball team we played. To give you an idea ... that team won the Big West Conference and there are five teams from that conference here (at the national tournament).
We have to take him out of every game five minutes in because his legs cramp up.
We have to run our offense better and a lot more efficiently.
We have been there before and seen it. We know what to expect.
We know they're good, and we know they've been playing good. They're a lot better than a 3-11 team.
Those are the shots that came out of our offense. We were just playing our game.
Those are the little things that Hays does to win games.
Those are probably two of our biggest games of the year. We need to get people revved up.
We thought the game was over at half, but nobody told the Argos ... Tonight, we came out the second half and played hard.
This was a great game ... if we don't make every one of those plays, we don't win.
Witherspoon's just such a great athlete, he'll jump over the top of you and score.
We had three tough road games and won two of them. Any coach in the country would be happy with that.
We felt bad n the coaches and the team n about that (decision).
We got the ball inside, we got penetration, and that's why you get to the free throw line. Then, they've got to foul you.
To be honest ... I didn't know it. It's nice, but the only thing that really matters is that next one.
To win (in the tournament), you have to have great concentration, you have to have depth and you have to be able to handle adversity. And you have to have a little bit of luck.
The seniors have played a lot of minutes. We have asked a lot of them and it is time to let them rest.
Coming to a new situation and a new system, it took a while to figure out. We were running a lot more things for him the last month of the season.
The big thing with (tournament play) is don't look past the first game. Don't look one second past it. Usually the first game of a tournament can be a struggle for both teams.
None of our kids at Carroll play both sports. Academically, it's too rigorous.
It was a game really dominated on both sides by the defenses. Both teams looked like they hadn't played since before Christmas. Defense dominated the game.
They came out and won the first there minutes of the second half and got the momentum.
They are very athletic and they're big. This will be one of the better teams we've played.
Once he got that, he had something to go to.
The minute he got here we had to work on his inside game.
I know how disappointed and frustrated they were at the end of that game and I know how motivated they will be.
Before Christmas, offensively we were running our stuff really well. But looking at out defense, we've got to get back to the fundamentals and the basic principles of our defense.
