Readers are responsible for deciding if the information (they read) is true. There has always been bad journalism.
When there is a threat of a hurricane, you have to cancel your plans two or three days before it is said to hit. You never know when it will hit; you have to make split-second decisions.
It's almost like a mass decision. The psyche of the collective people takes over and has to decide whether or not to leave.
Everybody is on pins and needles here. We are just waiting it out to see when and where the hurricane will hit.
