It was wonderful for my sons to live with him, to see that old age isn't to be feared. They saw him as someone to be proud of long before they knew he was Deep Throat.
Dad is so persuasive that when he said that he wasn't, I believed him. We had people calling. The media calling every year on the anniversary, and he always denied that he was and I went along with it.
He's always said that Deep Throat is a personality that was created by Bob Woodward, a name that was created. He likes to say that he's the person that they called Deep Throat.
My father's memory is impaired, but mostly he's just an old man.
We loved going to Twin Falls, my brother and I. I remember the family homestead. The house was so cozy and comfortable.
I don't want to delude myself. No one lives forever. But I want him to have this book experience. To enjoy his legacy.
