It sounds like (Penn State) is doing exactly the right thing. As long as they're doing that, I can't imagine what a potential violation would be.
It will be passed on to the Executive Committee and it will be acted on at (the committee's) April meeting.
I don't think anyone would be interested in us saying that two friends can't give each other a gift. It would be somewhat harsh to dictate what two friends could give each other.
If it is passed, the legislation is meant to ensure that schools are doing what they are promising, and that student-athletes are graduating from college with meaningful degrees. That's always the objective.
A gift of that value is a reward for a season of hard work.
I think it's an unfair assessment to say we're contradicting ourselves. We're not the ones making the ads.
Over the next number of weeks, the committee will make decisions on which of the allegations are infractions and decide on penalties.
