I got to know David Allan through a friend about five years ago. When he heard about all our troubles with the hurricanes, he decided to do us a favor and perform here. He hasn't played a place this small in 20 years. He might have a tough guy image, but he has a lot of heart, too.
I don't want people getting mad at me if they can't get in, but 300 is our limit. I'm amazed at how fast these tickets are going. People really want to see this guy.
Nancy and I had a couple dreams when we opened three years ago. To get (renowned blues artist) Tommy Castro and David Allan Coe to perform. Tommy and his band played here last spring and now David.
I think he's the best country songwriter there ever was. My mom and dad played his music all the time when I was growing up.
For a small bar, it's just great to get a national act like David and to be back better than ever after the storms.
I know all about his (no-show) reputation and his temper. But I'm pretty darn confident he'll be here. I talked with him personally, and then with his agent.
