I'm still not feeling that hot, but this event means so much for the kids, ... That's what it's really all about. For the kids, this is an important week.

I was on the 15th tee. I just eagled 13 and birdied 14. Nicklaus birdied 10. I thought 'This is cool, Jack and I are now tied.' As I hit the water on 15, I looked over at the scoreboard and just as one guy was finished putting up the 'S-E-N' (in Jacobsen), the other guy was taking down the 'J-A-C.'

Winning tournaments is all great, these guys have all won tournaments. But what it boils down to is having the opportunity to walk the fairways with your heroes, with the true champions of the game.

I've always had a pretty quick focus and that's what is needed at this type of event. This event is tailor made for me and fits my style of play.

You see a lot of bad golf shots. I was playing with a guy once who took a wild swing with a 3-wood or something, and he hit the ground behind the ball and the divot flapped over the ball. He stood there looking down the fairway, and we were on the ground laughing because his ball was underneath the divot, and he didn't even know that he did not hit the ball.

You're looking at players right here who have dominated the game for 50 years. These individuals are the kind of players who I have not only tried to pattern my game on the course, but my demeanor on and off the course.

You never know what shot will count most in a skins game. We had a hard time getting anything going, but if a couple of shots go in here and there for us, we're right in it.

It's as much about us enjoying you as it is you enjoying us. It's fun for us. I love this.

I'm afraid there is a tendency today that a lot of the guys take the game too seriously. That's why the Champions Tour is so great. We're all out here just having a great time.

I knew something was very wrong as I played in the JELD-WEN Tradition and the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach these past two weeks. My play was very poor, and my knee was killing me. I knew I had no other choice than to have surgery on my knee immediately.

It helps a great deal because I know what he can do and he knows what I can do. We both know that if we both hit a bad shot we are not going to feel like we have left our partner stranded. The tough thing about alternate-shot, whether it is here or in the Ryder Cup, is stranding your partner. It is like you are putting them out on a rubber dinghy with one oar. I am very much looking forward to it. I am very familiar with this type of format from playing in Ryder Cup competition before. I have played this competition with Arnold before when we played in the Shark Shootout. When Greg Norman had his first couple of Franklin Templeton Shark Shootouts we had a straight, pure, alternate-shot format in one of the rounds, so I understand it and there is strategy. But it also offers opportunities for you to be the hero. At any one time, your partner might not hit a great shot or he could hit a great shot you can make the hero putt or make the hero recovery.

Got off to a great start, then started missing fairways. Really sloppy on the back nine.

You could bury three elephants in that bunker. I think Nicklaus designed that bunker at night.

The hip is a little sore and the knee gimpy, but I did just fine. I birdied two of my first three holes, struggled in the middle and then righted the ship. I would say I'm at 80 percent right now.

Your confidence is the 15th club in your bag. You'd like it to be a thick headed driver. But it sometimes seems like a pretty weak little stick.
