I think the city needs to get out of this.
This is a silent majority that spoke out. They signed a petition because they were frustrated beyond belief with what was happening in the city. We're mad, we're not taking this anymore. We were saying go away, you're not going to solve anything, so we may as well dissolve.
You can't expect any return phone calls. I think the wound has been opened, and salt has been poured into it from all the media. The Times has to prove themselves to these three people.
They (residents) are optimistic the five of us (including Mayor Mark Abbott) will work together and do things for the whole city, not just special interests. It's a tremendous honor, it really is, to know how the people feel.
