When we were fundraising to go down to the Detroit area, we figured we had to raise $10,000 to $15,000 to finance the trip. It's four nights in a hotel plus all the means.
We have never had a Midget tournament here. The highest we've had is Bantam. And it's the first national-bound hockey tournament we've had here.
Most of these teams will have anywhere from 18 to 20 players, plus their parents, plus the coaching staff. You're talking between 60 and 80 for each team. Everyone but Marquette arrived Thursday.
This will be some of the best hockey and players to come here for a long time to come.
These were the two best teams in the tournament. It was right that they would meet in the final. It was the best game of the tournament, too.
The motels this year have been really accommodating for us.
They see enough of each other on the ice.
Because it's a national-bound tournament, some of the vice presidents of the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association are going to be here.
For the Detroit area people, this may be the first time they've been above the bridge.
