It's great, the number of people that I'm reaching through the Internet - I've done some wonderful interviews - but I miss touching the bodies. I miss shaking hands, looking into people's faces and saying, 'Hello, how are you doing? Thank you for playing my music.'

I was kicked off a record label and didn't get picked up again. It was devastating at first because I thought, 'Oh my God. My career is over. What's gonna happen? What am I going to do?' Once I got that I could have a career, a very good career, without having a hit record, then I changed.

I've been performing since the 60s and I made my first album in 1969, so it's been a bit over twenty years.

When I met with Peter Angell, the producer of the CD, we talked about my idea to do songs that I loved and songs that I wished I had recorded. Peter suggested that we pick some songs and see how they work with you and try to come up with arrangements and ideas about how you might want to do them.

When I joined, I was one of the first artists to sign on to the Motown West label when they opened their first studio in California. At the studio, you'd run into Stevie Wonder, you'd run into Marvin Gaye…it was very special.
