It's a scary thought. People aren't going to be willing to let government on their property if there is a risk the government is going to come back and take it.
I believe there is greater certainty that the water and land will be saved under private ownership and I hope the county will come to see that.
Our country was founded on the idea that the primary reason for bringing together a government is to protect private property. We remain hopeful that there is a compromise opportunity with the county to keep the property in private ownership.
We plan to go to trial. The ruling yesterday allows both parties to appeal after the final judgment.
As soon as we say we won't sell (the assets) outside the county, that devalues the resource. We can't do that in an eminent domain case.
