WHO has commended our operations (to control bird flu). They have told us the quick response of the Indian government has been highly appreciated.
The suggestion came from the farmers themselves as they felt vaccination would lead to a tedious process of waiting to see if it was effective. We will now be culling another 100,000 chickens.
Feathers sticking out of cages are being removed from chicken cages and from all over the ground and being burned.
Simultaneously, the farms are being cleared of feed, manure, droppings and other poultry material.
It will be difficult to estimate the economic loss at this point in time but it will be large.
In these four villages, control and prevention actions will be started.
