close guys motivating played run start teams trying
We'll try anything at this point. We've been close on the road. We've not played that bad. We've just run into some better teams than us. We have to start really trying to look at motivating our guys a little differently on the road. Hopefully, it will come.
future looks
We're really not that good. We're overachieving here and there. But the future looks bright.
afford basketball good half help scrappy shooting team
Twenty-nine turnovers didn't help us at all. Shooting 1-for-9 in 3-pointers in the first half didn't help us. But, man, they're a scrappy basketball team. They play in those spurts and that's what makes them good. They can afford not to play well in 2- or 3-minute spans. We can't. We're not good enough of a basketball team to do that.
confidence gain road tough
You have to gain some confidence on the road to get over it. We've just had to play some very, very tough teams.
cover fifteen minutes needed screaming time
Fifteen minutes (at halftime) wasn't enough time to cover all the things we needed to cover. It wasn't screaming and yelling. It was more pleading.
There's no easier pitch to hit than a splitter that doesn't do anything.
baseball granted took yankees
You kind of took it for granted around the Yankees that there was always going to be baseball in October.
maybe threw
I never threw the spitter, well maybe once or twice when I really needed to get a guy out real bad.
believe life pitch three
Army life was rough. Would you believe it, they actually wanted me to pitch three times a week.
arm goes later sooner
Sooner or later the arm goes bad. It has to... Sooner or later you have to start pitching in pain.
drink easy games smoke twenty
Hell, if I didn't drink drink or smoke, I'd win twenty games every year. It's easy when you don't drink or smoke or horse around.
amazed hitter power sure throw
You would be amazed how many important outs you can get by working the count down to where the hitter is sure you're going to throw to his weakness, and then throw to his power instead.
shape
The way to make coaches think you're in shape in the spring is to get a tan.
