I wanted to show our commitment to our outreach programs and our efforts to raise money for training and education of the next generation of city and county managers.
It's something that's a reality, and we're going to respond to it.
Good jobs are the lifeblood of a community. All the land can't be just taken up with houses. There needs to be employment centers.
We want to encourage young people to consider public service in local government management as a career option.
Our goal is $10,000. I am sure we have already reached that goal. When I started out from Pensacola, I had already raised $9,000. I know I have picked up more than $1,000 in donations along the way. Goals are meant to be broken.
I have gotten several donations from cities I have ridden through. The support has just been great.
Certainly the council didn't think that closing Charles Street was the right thing to do.
