Like I said, I just want to focus on the things I do well creating some offense, winning face-offs and being reliable in my own zone. Overall, I thought things went pretty well.
Obviously it's a great line, to be playing with Sullivan and Walker. I'm trying not to have too much focus on that. Things change really quick, so I'm just trying to do my job.
I think it's perseverance. I came back to training camp not knowing what to expect, but overall it's been a very good year. When I look back, I'm glad I kept working hard and that I showed I can still play.
Our preparation tonight was a lot better than it was against Chicago. We knew we had to come out strong. Even if teams like this are out of the playoffs, they're fighting for next year and working hard.
I wondered after a year off how much time it would take to get back to top strength. I have to admit that training camp was pretty intense for me, but the last couple of weeks have been better.
We were teasing (Johnson) before the game because it was probably the fastest goal in NHL history tonight.
We'll have to see what all the options are before anything gets decided. But hockey is different today. The new (collective bargaining agreement) makes things much different.
Especially this year coming into training camp, I didn't know what to expect. It's great to show I can still play in the NHL. I still feel good physically, so hopefully I can keep on going.
I've played in so many playoff games that I know I can make a difference. But we have a lot of players. The only thing I can control is my approach, so I've got to work hard and be ready.
They took the lead and played very solid defense. It was hard to score goals.
They say a 2-0 lead is the worst thing in hockey. Now, I'm starting to believe them.
Absolutely, the effort was better. If we want to compete against the top teams in the league, we've got to play like that. Actually, we need to play like that every night, no matter who the opponent is.
It was close all game and could have gone one way or another. We've got to make sure we win those games.
They want me to play on one of the top two offensive lines, and that's where I've played most of my career anyway, so I'll try to do my best and show everyone that I can still play in the league.
They want me to move a little better out there. We need to get things going on the power play. When I get my chances, I need to bury them.
I didn't know if I had played my last game two years ago. So a game like this is terrific.
The first 10 minutes we were pretty good, and then it was just like we didn't have any jump anymore. We've been playing a lot of games, but we can't use that as an excuse because the schedule has been busy for everyone.
