It could be enough, but of course having an administrative ruling, versus having something in law just makes it a little more clear. It just kind of strengthens it.
We felt like our legislature was ready to make the changes that are necessary to this law and thought we'd ask them.
Lesbian and gay Nebraskans understand that getting rid of this law won't help their families get protections immediately. But it will at least allow them to begin talking to lawmakers about their families and how they are harmed when treated like legal strangers.
