Jolly McCarty was one of my best friends. You never knew what he did because he did so much. He always worked behind the scenes, never taking credit for what he did. He was the ambassador for Merchants & Marine Bank and for our community.
It's not like it caught us off-guard. We knew it ws a possibility it was going to happen. You hate to see the way the whole deal worked out.
He's been telling me little things about staying low and keeping a nice little base when I'm ready to throw. We're kind of doing the basics right now, and hopefully we can work our way up to where I can be just as fundamentally sound as he was.
He stayed in there and worked hard and finally got his shot, that's what inspired me. I was impressed with the way he handled his whole situation. Never complaining about stuff, never saying if this would have went this way, this would have happened. He said this is the way it is.
