You talk about Orlando's defense -- those balls he goes back on, those in-between balls he takes away. Now, you're talking about a guy that's never played outfield, so it's a little more magnified.
I've always been a fan of the guy. He played for me in Triple-A. He's been in the big leagues the last few years. He's had some success. He's played in some tough towns -- in New York and L.A. -- So that doesn't phase him. He's not a Minor League player. He's a big league player.
As good as the team has played he feels if he's around we're that much better. That frustrates him, he's the leader of the pitching staff.
I would hope not. He's a confident kid to begin with, you can tell by the way he goes about his business, the way he acts. There has never been a great one that played this game that didn't get knocked on their butt. It's just a matter of if you get back up or not.
We played a good ballgame. We scratched a couple runs and caught the big break.
We played a good ballgame, ... We scratched a couple runs and caught the big break.
Last year, we went to Cincinnati and played St. Xavier,
Last year, we played well against both those teams, and that gave us confidence. Now, I think we closed the gap a little bit more.
We're not eliminated yet. I'm proud of the way the guys have played this year, they get after it. We're only going to get better.
Ideally he gets through. But for his sake you hope he gets claimed. Guys who played for you in the past, you always want the best for those guys.
At the end of a long year, we played two of the top teams pretty darn good.
It doesn't get any easier, but we've played them good all year. We'd love to go in there and knock them out somehow. We couldn't ask for more for what we're trying to do here. We're trying to build something, getting used to playing these type of games for our own experience.
