We had to hope that they missed from the outside and they didn't. Even if they miss, they have 6-10 (Hill) and 6-7 (Mike Masin) to clean up the boards. They are a talented team and they are bigger than a lot of teams that I played against in college.
Our kids gave a winning effort. We didn't always make the right choices but those kids never quit. South didn't give up, either. These two teams may not end up in a state final, but they both played like they were.
It was true of Anzac Day. And our crowd would have been proud to see our club play that way, under that stress when one of our team went down early. Unlikely heroes stood up.
I've been nervous for two weeks. I'm so glad the team responded to this challenge. We were better than any vaulting team I've ever seen.
