I figured my wife was about to start law school. If that whole baseball pitching thing didn't work out, I had something to fall back on. I figure I'd put a ring on her finger. Turns out she was the smart one. Turns out she was the gold digger, not me.
I want to lessen his workload this year, whether it's pitch opening day or work after him, so he doesn't have to do what he did last year. That's the main goal.
When he played, he had that clown reputation. There were a lot of guys like that, but he stood out. As a pitching coach, he's going to be awesome. He's personable, easygoing, and he seems excited to be here. It will be good. We don't need to work all the time.
I just kind of backed off it a little bit. They were great workouts for me, but I think there's a point in time where you can overwork something.
To be honest with you, I don't think it's that big a deal, ... You have to adjust your workouts and preparation in between starts. But I don't have a problem with it.
