It really depends on when the next two systems launch, and with what launch titles to drive demand for the hardware.
Well certainly the Star was (pun-intended) Star Wars . With three in the top 10 titles for the year, this movie-based property saw very strong sales. That said, other movie-based games fared less well.
As the possibility of building a greater install base for the first 'next-gen' system increases, so does the possibility of selling more software. So, that combined with some good sales of titles for current-gen systems could be a stabilizing factor for the industry.
I'm pessimistic, ... breakthrough and proprietary titles from a well-known franchise.
