We're starting to see the savings rate pick up from near historic levels, which is very encouraging. Though we don't expect Fed tightening to work overnight, we are starting to see some of the early results of the significant tightening we've seen to date.

The CPI report was very tame. It sort of reflects the comments by Alan Greenspan that even though monetary policy is way too expansive right now, inflation is sufficiently a non-event, a non-problem, so the Fed obviously can wait at this point,

What it tells us is that we may see a bit of an easing off of economic growth or momentum. But even though the trajectory of growth may, in fact, ease a bit in 2006, I think the expansion remains intact.

Even though we are close to the peak and we are still going to see spurts in activity, we will eventually see the housing market slow.

Even though the headline number came in much stronger, it isn't the number investors are going to be focusing on.

Even though the gains this month are in fact indicative of a sustainable economic expansion, the magnitude of the gain was a bit exaggerated.
