This was our first race together and everyone did a great job. We were hoping for a better finish, but we had a tight car and just couldn't free it up. It was tough out there today. A lot of crazy things happen on this track and I was happy that we didn't wreck any equipment.
It always feels good to put on the McDonald's uniform and see that big arch on the hood of the car, ... California is the kind of track that suits us pretty well. We've had some good qualifying and race runs there in the past.
We have two objectives for the 500 -- the first is to have a good solid run. And the second is to put the Ginn Clubs & Resorts car in position to win the race during the closing laps.
We never could get up there. This is the kind of race if you can't win there's no sense to wreck yourself or someone else. You just want to stay out of trouble and keep your nose clean.
Daytona is a special place and the '500' is a special race. I haven't reached the point where I am content to watch this race on television. I would rather be part of the action - it's the big show.
The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Chevrolet wasn't bad. However, I am pretty confident that our 500 car will be much better in the draft. Considering this was our first race together I think we did pretty well. It was a successful test for our races next week.
The car was a little tight. We just need to make a few tweaks and I feel we'll be in good shape for the 500. The key is that we came away from this race with an unscathed car.
