We did not hinder the investigation. The main objective for Syria was to uncover and give a full picture of how the crime happened.
I would like to confirm once again that Syria believes, strongly believes, that it is innocent and the committee has to look somewhere else to find those who committed this heinous crime.
Isn't this real political will? ... Syria is doing all it can do, but the problem is on the other side. They like to make accusations, not action. On the other side, there is no efforts whatsoever to stop these people.
Some quarters either on the basis of a suspect premeditated scheme or out of bad faith have used this crime in a despicable manner in order to fan the flames of hostility against Syria and increase accusations against it.
Syria will not allow this, did not allow this. This is not in the interest of either Syria or Lebanon. Our position is not to allow any such activity.
Syria was showing great interest in this summit, the Syrian delegation in New York was following up political preparations for it,
Syria is not incapable of establishing a resistance and deterrent balance that would force Israel to reconsider its calculations,
Syria is innocent of this crime. Syria is ready and willing to put to trial any Syrian conclusively implicated in that crime.
This heinous crime runs counter to all the principles that Syria holds... and was against Syrian interests.
